What is this basketball movie?

Its a true story about a black basketball player who got into drugs, etc and ruined his life kinda thing. I remember Karem Abdul Jabar did a cameo and said "he is one of the greatest basketball players I've ever seen." I'm guess it was around the 90's when it came out. Please help.
